Account Manager/Closer/New Business Development/Client Evangelist (WTF?)

No matter what your current job title, if you’re a born “rainmaker” and are passîonate about marketing and design, this may be the job you’ve been waiting for.

Buffalo 7 is specialist agency operating in the clearly defined niche of presentation design. And we’re serious about being the very best. Our client list reads like a who’s who of the world’s top companies. And once a client works with us, they usually come back for more.

Our product almost sells itself. It looks great, it delivers outstanding ROI, and our clients love to use it. But not enough people know we exist, and that’s where you come in.

We call our commercial team Client Services, and we are now seeking to strengthen our London office with two new “Client Services Managers”.

But as gentle as the job title is and as much as everyone wants what you’ll be selling, be under no illusion – this is no simple, order taking role.

You’ll need to be hungry, focused and self-motivated to mine LinkedIn for ever more contacts, pick up the phone and spread the word.

Many of your prospects will be found within organisations who have recently worked with us. Here you’ll be mining each company and using a job well done as your warm door opener. Satisfied clients will often gladly refer you to colleagues.

Other prospects will come your way via our ongoing marketing activity that delivers a strong and steady flow of new business leads.

Ultimately, however, you’ll be the type never to sit back and wait for spoonfed opportunity and will approach each day with enthusiasm and drive to open new doors.

Your experience to date need not necessarily be from within a creative, marketing or advertising agency. However, you must understand the decision making processes that drive buying decisions in this sector and recognise the triggers that prompt organisations to outsource the creation of (often high stake) presentations.

While these roles are London based, there will be monthly travel to our Manchester head office and UK wide to continually develop new key accounts. You will be required to self-balance between working remotely, from client sites or home, and from the London Soho Square office. We treat our teams with respect & trust and expect honesty & integrity in return.

As a person, you are hyper organised, empathetic, self-aware and willing and able to communicate and collaborate with our broader team of super talented people. Fun is at the heart of what we do, and we work hard to foster a culture not just of the cliched “work hard, play hard” but also one of belonging and a shared vision of creating fantastic results for our clients and enjoying the process.

Your day to day

Reporting immediately to the Client Services Director and regularly into our CEO, you will:

  • Identify potential key accounts. Companies where the opportunity exists to drive and deliver rapid growth via networking, client referral and needs-mapping. (40%)
  • Respond to incoming sales enquiries driven by our continual marketing push. (40%)
  • Develop new opportunity “from scratch” through your own networking and proactive selling (20%)
  • Meet with clients either face to face or via video call to demonstrate our capabilities and clearly outline why we should be their agency of choice.
  • Carry out a detailed needs analysis and delve deep into the problem, uncovering opportunity beyond the obvious.
  • Create bespoke proposals offering a range of options that fit within specified budgets while including upsell options that deliver even greater value and ROI.
  • Own the proposal end-to-end, following up in a non-pushy and relaxed manner while keeping a careful eye on the achievement of the company’s headline sales targets.
  • Ensure the central client management system is kept up to date with records of contact.
  • Brief projects into the studio via the project management team and continue to act as the “client champion” and guardian of the account.

The ideal candidate

  • A positive, “go-gettem” attitude will see you fit into this team. Everyone rolls up their sleeves and gets stuck in.
  • A style that is bright, creative, motivated and a natural when it comes to dealing with clients and building relationships
  • The ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to enable all participants to feel equally invested in strategies and executions and keep everyone in the know and in a position to succeed
  • A sparkling personality that will mesh well with the existing Buffalo 7 family (we love smart people with a dash of quirkiness and humour)
  • A degree of comfort standing in front of a client audience and delivering a confident and compelling presentation.
  • The ability to spot opportunities and solutions where others may not.
  • Bags of empathy and a high level of emotional intelligence, energy and positivity.
  • Some sales experience, ideally within the design or marketing sector would be preferred. However, we’re looking closely for the right person, not the right CV. So we’re open to being convinced (after all – that’s what this job is all about. Right?).
  • We don’t care if the BA after your name stands for ‘Bugger All” university time. Because some of the best salespeople dropped out of school.

The reward

Beyond a salary in the region of £30-38K (dependent on experience) you will additionally benefit from:

  • 23 days (plus bank hols) annual leave, increasing with every year of service.
  • Private medical care
  • Eye care
  • Company Mobile Phone
  • High St discounts
  • Subsidised gym membership

How to apply

If you’re a “rinse and repeat” type job applicant, you’re about to come unstuck.

Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure we actually read your application.

Firstly, please email your application directly to careers@buffalo7.co.uk

Secondly, start the title of your email with the code CSMAPP.

Having this code at the start of the email title will do nothing more than demonstrate you paid attention. It helps us sort out the applicants who are genuinely interested from those just applying for everything.
You can be as imaginative as you like with the rest of your subject line (… hint).

And finally, DO please use the body of the email to include a covering letter of some description. We’ll use this intro to decide whether to even look at your CV. So put your powers of persuasion to good use and get us to read all about you in your CV.
